Master Programme

The Accreditation Commission of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic has accredited our Bachelor and Master programme in the English Language at the meeting in April 2010.

Fields of Study

Web and Software Engineering

The Web and Software Engineering branch, Software Engineering specialization is focused on the design, implementation, and maintenance of large software systems. Graduates of this specialization fathom the issue of system analysis, modelling, and programming. The guaranteeing department of the specialization is theDepartment of Software Engineering. The specialization is taught both in the Czech and English language.

This specialization is directly connected to the current Bachelor Degree Study Programme Informatics, especially the web and Software Engineering bachelor branch, Software Engineering specialization. However, specialization is also suitable for graduates of similar bachelor informatics programmes. Applicants attend the admission procedure to the Study Program Informatics, they choose the specialization/branch during the study.

Computer Security

The study branch is focused on the research and development of secure information and communication systems. Graduates gain professional knowledge in cryptanalysis principles, detection, and prevention of attacks on computer networks, secure management of information systems, and secure hardware and software design. The guaranteeing department of the branch is the department of Information Security. The branch is taught both in the Czech and English language.

This branch is directly connected to the current Bachelor Degree Study Programme Informatics, especially computer Security and Information Technology bachelor branch. However, the branch is also suitable for graduates of similar bachelor informatics programmes. Applicants attend the admission procedure to the Study Program Informatics, they choose the specialization/branch during the study.

Computer Systems and Networks

Students of the Computer Systems and Networks branch will understand architectures and technologies of computer systems and their system software across the spectrum of computing platforms ranging from highly parallel architectures on a chip over computer networks and network technology, database and web servers, data centers, mobile and distributed systems and high-performance parallel systems to large scale web systems and cloud computing platforms. They understand the system architecture and will be able to solve applications requiring distributed, mobile, and HPC platforms.

Design and Programming of Embedded Systems

The study branch is focused on the design of embedded digital systems and its contents both hardware and software components. Greater emphasis is given to embedded systems and systems and networks on a chip (SoC and NoC). Graduates gain a good overview of the design, modelling, and verification of digital systems. The guaranteeing department of the branch is the department of Digital Design. The branch is taught both in the Czech and English language.

This branch is directly connected to the current Bachelor Degree Study Programme Informatics, especially the computer Engineering bachelor branch. However, the branch is also suitable for graduates of similar bachelor informatics programmes. Applicants attend the admission procedure to the Study Program Informatics, they choose the specialization/branch during the study.

  • Yes (remote online admission test of informatics and remote online interview in English)

Entrance Requirements

  • Application form
  • Two signed copies of the study contract. The study contract form is available online at http://www.fit.cvut.cz/en/student/forms
  • Full completion of Bachelor-level education (for those who already finished) or applicants who are studying in their last year of a Bachelor degree study programme at the time of submitting the application shall attach photocopies of official documents that indicate subjects studied and grades obtained so far
  • A photocopy of the applicant’s passport
  • English Language
  • Structured CV with focus on IT skills and experience
  • Admission fee 650,- CZK (approx. 25€)

Level of English

  • FCE – First Certificate in English or,
  • TOEFL IB T 65/ TOEFL CBT 185 or,
  • IELTS score 5.5 and above or,
  • BEC 2 – Business English Certificate 2 or,
  • STANAG 6001 – level 2 or,
  • TOEFL paper-based test score 513 and above or,
  • TOEFL CB score 183 and above or,
  • TOEFL iBT score 65 and above or,
  • TELC (The European Language Certificates) – Certificate in English – Advantage (B2)
  • TELC – B2 English for Business Purposes – B2, or
  • TELC – B2 English for Technical Purposes, or
  • Pitman Intermediate (Level 2) – Intermediate First Class Pass – B2 Vantage, or
  • International ESOL and Spoken ESOL – Communicator, or
  • Czech State Examination in English (Basic or higher level), or
  • A document showing that English was the teaching language at the applicant’s secondary/high school
